Exclusive - Vivaan Arora on returning to showbiz after a hiatus of 4 years: I'd taken a break to handle a crisis in my family business
Vivaan Arora, who has been a part of the television industry and has done a few shows like 'Khushiyon Kii Gullak Aashi', 'SuperCops vs Supervillains' and 'Aahat', had to quit showbiz in 2017 as his father's business suffered major financial losses, and he had to shift base to Punjab. However, the actor is back into the acting profession with a music video. In an exclusive interview with ETimes TV, Vivaan spoke about the break, casting couch, boom of Punjabi music, rejections, and a lot more:How has the whole lockdown period been for you?The lockdown period has been an important lesson for everyone that health and nature are important. You need to strengthen your immunity, eat healthy, live healthy, think positive, and it has been a great time to self-reflect on yourself and find your calling. Also, I got to spend a good time with my family. I hope we will come of this very soon and in a much better way.Acting is an unstable profession, what led you to take this up?Yes, you are absolutely right! It's an unpredictable profession where you can't predict when things are in your favour. I feel maybe early may be late but for survival you have to think about an extra source of income for financial stability. But since acting is my passion and eventually I found my calling here. I did take a break to handle the crisis in my family business, but now I'm back and want to make it bigger here. Was your family supportive of your decision of taking up acting as a profession?Initially, my family was not so supportive as they always wanted my support in the family business because acting is an uncertain profession.
However, acting is my passion and business is in my blood. So, I will manage both things which will create a win-win situation where me and my parents both can be happy. With no godfather in the industry, how easy or difficult does it get to get projects? It's difficult without a godfather because if you don't have any support or any relation in this industry you have to prove yourself every time in order to carve your niche and make everyone feel your presence. But I feel the struggle and the journey is worth living. Though it is difficult to figure out your own way and sometimes it does takes time, but it trains you to become better each day.Have you faced criticism or rejections? Did the incident make or break you?I faced many rejections till now as it's part of industry and part of life also but my theory is if you fall 10 times get up the 11th time and one day u will get what you want and deserve. Perseverance is the key. There's also a lot spoken about casting couch. Have you ever been in that situation?Yes, it's also a part of this industry and I feel it's in every industry whether it's the corporate world or any other. People in power use their position. Yes, I faced this situation but I'm a Punjabi so I handled it on my way.Punjabi music is overruling. How does it feel?Yes, Punjabi music is in every Indian's blood so obviously it gives you the feel of each and every word. In recent times, it has boomed a lot and doing extremely well. Are you in touch with Khushiyon Ki Gullak Aashi cast? No, I'm busy with my stuff as I have a lot of things to do.Do you have friends in the industry?I have very few friends in the industry as I believe in keeping my friend circle small and valuable. However, I am in touch with Prince Narula. What mediums do you intend to work on?I believe in good cinema and the web. I actually believe in good content whatsoever the medium may be. Good content makes a mark in the audience's heart.
