The hunt for the new Sonu in
Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah
is finally over. As reported earlier, the makers were in talks with a lot of new artists.
Palak Siddhwani
and Jinal Jain were shortlisted to play the role of Sonu. However, the latest we hear is that Palak Siddhwani has been finalised to play the part.
Jinal Jain was also in the race to play Sonu, but Palak bagged the role. Palak is a newcomer but has done several ads. She was also part of a popular webseries starring Ronit Roy and Tisca Chopra in lead roles. She has already started shooting for the show (August 21) and will make her entry on the show by next week.
The role was earlier played by
Nidhi Bhanushali. However, the actress quit the show some time back to pursue higher studies. Sonu's character was earlier seen leaving Mumbai for higher studies. But now she will be back in Gokuldham society.
Nidhi replaced Jheel Mehta as Sonu in 2012 and won hearts with her performance. Nidhi made her television debut with Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah and was part of it for more than 6 years.
When contacted, Palak said, “I haven’t got any confirmation from the makers. I did a mock shoot day before yesterday and I am waiting for the revert."
