Exclusive: Shweta Mahadik on creating a life-size forest decor and her Ganpati idol: My entire house looked like a construction site

Actress Shweta Mahadik took her Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations to a whole new level this year, creating a life-size forest decor and a beautifully crafted Ganpati idol at her home. In an exclusive conversation with ETimes TV, Shweta revealed the scale of her project, saying, “My entire house looked like a construction site while creating this.”

The actress, known for her creativity, shared how this year’s festive decor was a step up from the previous year. “Last year, I made a small forest as décor, but this time I thought, why not make it life-size? I wanted it to feel like a real forest, and for the Ganpati idol, I wanted to ensure it felt like a real God was sitting there,” she explained. While the creative process brought joy, it also came with its challenges. Shweta recalled the chaos in her home as she worked on the decor, saying, “Everything was thrown around. But, oh my God, it was a mess! But today, everything has come together, and we were still giving finishing touches just a day before Ganesh Chaturthi.”

For Shweta, the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi is not just about decor but a deep spiritual connection. She expressed how the celebration fills her with an indescribable energy and devotion to Lord Ganesha. “There’s something about my connection with Ganpati that cannot be described in words. It’s beyond explanation,” she said.

This year marked her fourth year celebrating the festival at home, and she also donned a few DIY jewellery pieces, adding a personal touch to her look. Shweta’s dedication to the festival and her creativity continue to make her Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations truly special.
