Actress Shveta Salve, who currently resides in Goa and is a mother too, was in an online yoga class being taught by Aashka and Brent this morning. While trying to concentrate on her morning yoga session, Shveta was taken aback and couldn't concentrate because of the kind of comments that were coming in for her fellow colleague Aashka Goradia. Post the live, Shveta took it on herself to shame those who were sending lewd, sexual remarks and started a chain saying #IgnoreNoMore on her social media.
Speaking about the incident Shveta says, "Aashka was teaching the class with her husband Brent and hence had no idea about the comments coming in. Here are people who are commenting on someone teaching yoga and she can't even defend herself. It's high time that crime on social media is addressed and taken up! In my case, I reached out to Malini Aggarwal and she connected me to Shubham from Cyber Crime and he’s guiding me on what needs to be done. I feel it's important that we stop this because social media is here to stay but people have started to think that because they can create profiles with faceless accounts and remain anonymous, it's okay to say anything! There was a time when I would also delete and block the users but now I think it's high time that we all teach them a lesson. There are so many girls out there who must be facing similar issues and I feel they need to know that any sort of harassment is not okay and there are people who can help them!"
Speaking about being a woman as well as a mother to a daughter Shveta says, "I am scared about what the future holds for my own little one. I remember being scared as a girl of the kind of comments that would get passed and with social media, its just gotten worse. If we don't bring in corrective measures now, then when?"
Many others in the industry have come in support of Aashka Goradia and Shveta Salve's #IgnoreNoMore campaign including Hina Khan, Arti Singh, Agibail Pandey, Sourabh Raaj Jain, Narayani Shastri, Meghana Naidu, amongst others.
