Exclusive - Payal Rohatgi on her marriage with Sangram Singh, her wedding trousseau and Mumbai reception

Lock Upp's first runner-up Payal Rohatgi's wedding festivities have kick-started with the mehendi ceremony that took place today (June 6). The actress in an exclusive chat with ETimes TV spoke about the marriage, the ceremonies, Sangram Singh and her wedding trousseau and honeymoon plans. She also opened up about inviting her Lock Upp co-contestants for the wedding and if she will be inviting her arch-rival Munawar Faruqui to her wedding. (Photo: Instagram)

Payal: There’s no last minute jitters

Everything seems to be in control, let’s see now how things go. We have done all the shopping and arrangements. Sangram ji and my clothes are also sorted. Now, after the mehendi ceremony I will leave for Agra on Thursday. There are no last minute jitters. I am quite calm and just going with the flow. I am concentrating only on the preparations, so I am not getting to sit and think about the wedding. That’s why there are no jitters. I am looking at it as an important day where we will get lots of love and blessings from our elders and fans. The life after marriage remains the same, it's the sanctity of marriage happening. Payal on her wedding with Sangram: Both our parents are old and they deserve this happiness

Both the families are very excited because they were the ones who had been waiting for this day for a long time. Both our parents are old and they deserve this happiness to see their children getting married. Every parent wants to see their child married. I think we owe it to them and der aaye par Durust aaye… we are happy that they are happy. (Photo: Instagram)

Sangram ji and I obviously have our clothes in sync

We obviously have our clothes in sync. There are designers from Delhi and Ahmedabad who have come on board. I will reveal the looks when I will actually wear them for the occasion because a lot of things will depend on several other factors. There will be colour coordination a little bit and we are not going to be totally in contrast, there will be some kind of blending happening. I’ve my nani’s jewellery that she has given me and that I am supposed to wear for my marriage. Obviously, there will be a little bit of temple jewellery and diamond sets. Hopefully I look pretty in various attires and outfits. I am wearing lehengas in all my pre-wedding functions. Post wedding for the mandir visit I plan to wear a saree. (Photo: Instagram)

I’ve given a lot of input in finalising Sangram Ji’s clothes for the wedding

I’ve given a lot of input in finalising Sangram Ji’s clothes because he is not at all bothered about what he will be wearing. For him if given a chance he would sit in the mandap in a T-shirt and shorts. But that doesn’t work. I am actually handling all the clothes and costumes. He has a lot of friends who are designers but I am managing the clothes part. It is my duty because whatever I’ll tell him he will wear. A lot of things happen in my brain, so my brain is constantly on work. I am constantly busy with coordination. Sangram ji is the one who is inviting everyone, we have divided the work that way. I am inviting my Lock Upp contestants to the Mumbai reception

Yes, I am inviting my Lock Upp co-contestants to the Mumbai reception. The Delhi reception is on July 14 because the marriage is on July 9th. I will send the invites to everyone because it is a beautiful occasion. Jab main Kangana Ranaut ko invite karungi toh I think everyone from Lock Upp deserves the invitation as I’ve spent close to three months with them. It is up to them if they want to grace the occasion or not but invitations will definitely go to them. (Photo: Instagram)

Payal on inviting Munawar: I had differences with him

Yes, the invitation will also go to Munawar Faruqui because I’ve no grudges against him. Yes, sometimes when you stand for a thought process and someone hurts that thought process, I have a right to say that I am not happy with that. I have had differences with him as he tried to earn his livelihood by making fun of my God. As long as he doesn’t do that, I have no grievances with him. As I have differences with ideology not with human beings. (Photo: Instagram)

Want to go to Kashmir for our honeymoon because I was the happiest when Article 370 was removed

Yes, we should go on a honeymoon because Sangram ji hardly takes vacations and he’s not one of the romantic types at all. I am really hoping that a honeymoon will be a good excuse for a holiday to be away from the hustle bustle for a week or so. I am really wanting to go to Kashmir because I was the happiest when Article 370 was removed and I have expressed the happiness the most on the show that I recently participated in. I deserve to see Kashmir and I hope to go to Kashmir for my honeymoon. (Photo: Instagram)

On feeding underprivileged kids, animals and planting trees on their wedding day

This was Sangram Ji’s decision because he’s someone who is very close to nature. I have also become a person close to nature after living with him. He discussed with me that he wants to do this and I thought it was a great idea. We really want to make efforts to give back to society and nature whatever we can in our capacity. (Photo: Instagram)

We will go for adoption or surrogacy and we will see how it works out

I think we will go for adoption or surrogacy and we will see how it works out. It was not in my contract to mention that secret or past, but I expressed myself as I played the game with whole heart. I think I related a lot to people and they too. I was not manipulative or calculated, I was myself. (Photo: Instagram)

It is not a crime if I am not able to give birth to a child

There was a time when I thought a co-contestant was trying to misuse my relationship with Sangram ji and was trying to put seeds in my brain. I felt it was the need of the hour to talk about the thing which was bothering me. It is not a crime if I am not able to give birth to a child, it is normal and happens to people. I needed to come to terms with it, there can be various women like me who might be afraid to talk about it or come to terms with it. I wanted to inspire others and in that process inspire myself. Let’s see we might have various options but first let us get married and then let God guide us what we should do next. (Photo: Instagram)
