Exclusive- Patiala Babes’ Ashnoor Kaur: I am not ready for married roles on-screen; my teenage days won’t come back

Actress Ashnoor Kaur, who plays the role of teenager Mini in Patiala Babes, spoke about her future projects, life under lockdown and much more in an exclusive conversation with ETimes TV. While actors like Jannat Zubair, Reem Shaikh and Avneet Kaur, who are of Ashnoor’s age are playing romantic leads on-screen, the actress had her inhibitions. And here’s what all she shared. (By: Sukarna Mondal)

Can’t play a married woman

I have my reservations. Everybody has their own opinion, priorities and choices. Everyone is free to do whatever types of roles they want to. But for me and my parents, it is a collective decision that we want to go according to my age. I have my entire life ahead and the teenage days won’t come back.

3/8

I am a teenager and would play a teenager

Currently when I was on a break for a few months, I did get offer for a few roles and they were married or adult characters. I don’t want to do such roles right now. Shaadi wale roles abhi nhi karne. I am a teenager and would love to play a teenager.

4/8

Become choosy about scripts

I did become choosy. After Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, I took up Bollywood films Sanju and Manmarziyan. There I played characters of my age. I did several commercials and music videos. Then I took up Prithvi Vallabh, which was a historical show I played my age and then I got Patiala Babes. So patience did turn out to be fruitful. I have been getting characters fulfilling all my criteria.

5/8

On being part of reality shows

I would love to do reality shows. But I am still a minor. I am not legally eligible to be a part of reality shows. I will have to wait 2-3 years more.

6/8

On being a social media influencer

I know when I have a certain number of followers on social media, it is my responsibility to post the correct things and convey the correct message. In the digital era, people get influenced very easily. I really have to be cautious when I share anything.

7/8

On facing opposition on social media

I have never faced trolling as such. But yes, there are some followers who oppose what I post or my opinion. I take them as my personal motivation. I take it positively and for me if it is like ‘I will do better’.

8/8

On balancing time between social media and personal work

Initially, when social media started booming and we all used to be on our phones. My mom would tell me to be off my phone. But then she saw how big it has become and all the actors are on social media. So, she was fine with it. But I maintain a time. I keep 2-3 hours for social media and then I try to do something productive.
