Exclusive - Pankit Thakker takes centre stage in upcoming TV show Saru; says 'This show has been a journey of self-discovery for me'
Pankit Thakker, widely recognized for his performances in television series such as Dill Mill Gayye and Bahu Hamari Rajni Kant, is making a return to the small screen with upcoming drama, Saru. In an exclusive interview, Pankit Thakker talks about his role in Saru, the upcoming show. With over two decades of experience, Thakker has established himself as a versatile actor. Speaking about his new show, Pankit said, "I've worked on a wide range of projects, from films to web shows to TV shows, each experience teaching me something new, allowing me to adapt to diverse storytelling styles and formats, and helping me grow as an actor."
Saru presents an inspiring tale of a determined young girl from a rural village who defies traditional norms and family pressure to chase her dreams of getting an education. Pankit steps into the character of Chandru, a pivotal figure in the story who brings depth to this meaningful journey.
"In television, the only hero is the story," he says. "And as Saru's father, I'm playing a role that has the heart of this narrative." Pankit's passion for storytelling and character development shines through in his work. "I believe great stories have the power to inspire and transform us," he says. "As an actor, I strive to bring authenticity and nuance to every role. The audience will laugh, cry, and empathize with Chandru's struggles," he said.
One aspect of Chandru's character that resonates with the actor is Chandru's vulnerability and sensitivity for Saru, which makes him an emotional anchor of the story. "He's a complex character, and I think audiences will really connect with his struggles and triumphs," he explains.
Pankit praises the production house, Shashi Sumeet Mittal Productions, for their exceptional work. "Their commitment to quality and attention to detail is evident in every aspect of the show, and I'm thrilled to be a part of it." He's also excited to share the screen with talented co-stars Mohak Matkar, Shagun Pandey, and Anushka Merchande.
Reflecting on working on Saru, Thakker says, "This show has been a journey of self-discovery for me. I've learned so much about myself and about the craft of acting." With anticipation building up, Thakker concludes, "I'm thrilled for the audience to experience Saru's journey and connect with the characters on a deeper level."
