Exclusive - Naagin 7's Priyanka Chahar Choudhary breaks silence on ‘going under the knife’ reports; says 'Everyone has the right to enhance their looks...'
Priyanka Chahar Choudhary is set to return to the fiction space with the highly anticipated supernatural series Naagin 7. Amid the growing excitement around the show, there has also been ongoing speculation about her undergoing cosmetic procedures. In an exclusive conversation with Times of India TV, Priyanka finally addressed the speculation and strongly called out trolls for judging and targeting people based on their appearance.
Priyanka said, “All these things have been happening for a long time. I was on medication throughout last year and was given very heavy doses of antibiotics, but most people don’t know that. It made me lose weight, but my face was bloated, even though people thought it was something else. As for small things, that’s okay. Everyone has the right to enhance their looks, and that is completely my choice. If I apply kajal or wear lenses, people start thinking I’ve done something to my face. Guys, this is my face and it has its own personality. It’s just a little touch-up or makeup. If you break it down as makeup, people still end up saying something, and that’s not right.”
When asked if troll comments affect her, she replied, “No, not at all. They don’t affect me. I choose not to let them.”
Speaking about trolls attacking and judging looks, she said, “What’s the problem in that? It’s your choice. It’s your face and it’s completely up to you. Even if someone thinks it’s bad, it’s still your call. So why do people feel the need to comment or worry about it? I agree that we are public figures, but sometimes people become very insensitive, and that shouldn’t happen. I still take it sportingly, but there are many people who can’t handle such comments."
Priyanka further said, "I want to say one thing to everyone—there are certain aspects of appearance that you should never comment on. Only comment on something that can be fixed in ten seconds. If you say someone’s hair is messy, it can be fixed quickly. But commenting on someone’s height or body isn’t right. It’s wrong to comment on anyone’s appearance because it creates insecurity. I may not get affected by it, but I know many people do. They won’t say it out loud, but they feel it inside. I have friends who are short, and even though they don’t complain, I know they struggle and feel conscious. That’s why such comments are not okay and people should stop doing this.”
