Karan Patel on daddy duties: I realise how stressful it is; a heartfelt salute to all the mothers
Yeh Hai Mohabbatein actor Karan Patel will soon be showing his daredevil side to the audience. The actor has shot for the stunt-based show Khatron Ke Khiladi 10 and stated that it is a difficult show, which challenges one's patience, time and stamina. Khatron Ke Khiladi is being hosted by Rohit Shetty and the tagline 'Darr Lega Class Aur Dega Traas' is literally being applied on all the contestants. During the launch of the show, The TimesofIndia.com got in an exclusive conversation with Karan Patel, where he spoke about his newborn daughter Mehr Patel, and the daddy duties he is doing. Whenever the name Karan Patel is announced, a fearless image comes to mind. With Khatron Ke Khiladi 10, do you think that image will be broken?
Of course, everybody should have a fear in life, be it anything. At some point in time, 'thoda sa darr hona zaruri hai' because if you're not scared and you think you are invincible then there's going to be a time when you'll fall flat on your face, which you don't want. (Photo: Instagram)
It's difficult to get along with strangers and on this show, how did you break the ice with your co-contestants?
When we were all departing for the season, you know who the co-contestants are. I had picked up the alphabet key chains with each name and I had given them as an 'All the best' token at the airport itself, and that's how we broke the ice. How is Rohit Shetty as the show's host?
Khatron Ke Khiladi and Rohit Shetty are like hands and gloves. When you think of Rohit Shetty, you see cars flying, huge action sequences. It's not rocket science to know that Rohit Shetty is the best host to get for a show like this. (Photo: Instagram)
A fear that you have overcome after doing this show?

With Mehr, what daddy duties are you doing?
I've learned how to swaddle her. Swaddle is when you wrap the baby in that muslin cloth. Yes, I do change the diapers also as and when possible or probable if I am around and Ankita (Bhargava) is busy with something. Other than that, it's a heartfelt salute to mothers all over the world. Now, that I have seen first hand, I've seen not efforts and pain but how much a mother is strong inside her, willing to do and go for a small child to bring her up in the first four-five months at least till the child starts crawling. Sleepless nights and there's tremendous physical stress on the mother. Having seen all that, I think all the fathers in the world should probably just be thankful that they have their better halves who are doing the toughest job in the world. (Photo: Instagram)
With Yeh Hai Mohabbatein, you created an identity as Raman Bhalla for yourself. Currently, how happy do you feel to portray yourself as Karan Patel?
Raman Bhalla was never too far away or too different from me, only his name was different. My on screen character was me because I am like that. I do use those kind of one-liners with my wife at home as well. That's how I am! In fact, it worked out so well that I etched myself to become the character instead of the character becoming me.
