Exclusive - Jiya Shankar reveals why she went public with her relationship; says she was ‘tired of constant link-up rumours'

Jiya Shankar, who joined Elvish Yadav to host the dating reality show Engaged Season 2, broke her silence on the constant link-up rumours surrounding her. In an exclusive chat with Times of India TV, the actress revealed that she was tired of the speculation and decided to make her relationship public.

Speaking about the speculations, she said, “I had kept it very private. But when the rumours started spreading, I felt enough was enough because I was tired of it. Every other day, my name was being linked with someone new. So I decided I didn’t want that anymore and wanted to distance myself from all of it."

She added, "That’s when I thought I should at least make it clear that I’m no longer single and put an end to these rumours involving different people. That was the only reason I spoke about it. Otherwise, I would have preferred to keep it private for some time. I plan to reveal my partner’s identity only when I get engaged.”

When asked about her family's reaction to her recent engagement rumours with Elvish Yadav, she said, "There have been link-up rumours about me. I think my family is quite used to such things by now. Also, my family knows very well who I'm dating and with whom there's a possibility of getting engaged. So nothing unusual really happened in my house. Also, that story wasn’t even up for 24 hours, and the promo came out almost immediately after. So honestly, it didn’t make much of a difference.”

For the uninitiated, Jiya and Elvish recently made headlines after Elvish Yadav shared a photo of himself holding a girl’s hand with a diamond ring on it and tagged Jiya Shankar. The photo sparked strong engagement rumours. However, it was a publicity gimmick for their new show, 'Engaged Season 2'.
