Exclusive- Jennifer Winget reacts to the new culture of toxic relationships: People today don't have tolerance for each other in a relationship

The upcoming show Raisinghani Vs Raisinghani is set to fulfil fans' wishes by bringing Jennifer Winget and Karan Wahi back on screen together. Talking about the character, storyline and the tight friendship, Jennifer Winget exclusively shares with ETimes TV the qualities she would love to imbibe from her character Anushka.

Virat and Anushka's relationship is toxic

When it comes to Virat and Anushka's relationship it is a toxic relationship for sure because they both are somewhere codependent. He thrives on her, he wants her to be by his side always no matter what and she wants to be validated by him. That is why they keep running back to each other, because of that void that they have in their lives. It is not because of them but the other people around them, other situations and other circumstances in their lives. They kind of get from each other even if it is unhealthy.

People today don't have tolerance for each other in a relationship

Even in the show, we keep going into flashbacks like 14 years, 10 years and all. If you see the promo, the scene with me and Virat at the party, it will make the viewers question their dynamics but as the show goes further you will come to know why Virat and Anushka are how they are and what has happened in the past. It's very common today, people today don't have that kind of tolerance for each other. Tolerance to understand that I made a mistake, you made a mistake and it's ok. Let's at least help each other to be better people instead of putting each other down.

4/9

The conflict is all about different ideologies between Virat, Anushka and Ankita

Its different ideologies, Virat perceives a case in a different way, Ankita perceives it in a different way and I have a different perception. There are scenes where Virat would come to Anushka and say 'are you stupid? Don't think with your heart. You're a lawyer, be logical.' And I am like 'but I don't think like that, you can and I am not judging you but that is not me.' So that is the conflict and that is how people are in real life also. We are different people and we all perceive things in different ways, so that is the battle. And that is what is so humane and real about this story just because you don't agree with me doesn't make either of us bad, it is just different ideologies.

5/9

Do you often take your characters home?

We all kind of when we go back home, we introspect about our work. We could have done this better or we could have done it this way or that way. That usually happens. Most days I do like to read my scenes about the following day one night before so that I at least have an idea as to what I am going to do tomorrow and be better prepared. So, I mean once I am in a project, that project is with me at every given point in time. So yeah, I do take all of it home, I take it to work, I take it to the park, to walk my dog, everywhere.

6/9

Qualities that you like about Anushka?

Anushka's compassion, empathy, the confidence that she has. These are some things that I would like to imbibe in myself also.

7/9

Any character that has changed you personally?

For myself, I'll say that all the characters that I have played have only kind of strengthened me personally and professionally both and given me that quiet, not-so-quiet confidence in myself. Every character has changed me, the obvious answer would be Maya because people saw me in a different light. Even Saraswati Chandra, DMG, Bepanah, Beyhadh, all the shows that I have done. I know it sounds very cliche but it's true, this has been my life for the past so many years.

8/9

Continuation...

This is how I have grown, this is how I have become who I am today and this is a journey that is never going to stop. Every character has changed me, every year has changed me, every challenge has changed me, every achievement has changed me and I hope that this evolution that I will call it is always ongoing.

9/9

How would you describe your bond with Karan?

That trust exercise that they make you do on stage, I think with Wahi and I that's the thing. We trust each other so much that we are ok to fall back and we know the other person will have our back. We have waited for this opportunity to work together for a long time.
