Exclusive - Hina Khan wants to break the stereotypes; says 'don't mind romancing onscreen son in law Mohsin Khan'

Hina Khan and Dheeraj Dhoopar, who were last seen introducing the season 5 of hit franchise Naagin to the audience, recently reunited on-screen for a music video 'Humko Tum Mil Gaye'. Within a few hours of its launch, the song took the number.1 spot online and was also part of trends. In an exclusive chat with ETimes TV, the actress shared that she wants to break stereotypes and barriers and also spoke about the song.

Hina shared that Priyank Sharma, who she was seen romancing her in her last single Raanjhana is younger to her in real life. The actress says she wouldn't mind romancing Mohsin Khan and Rohan Mehra onscreen who played her onscreen son-in-law and son respectively in the show Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. She says if their chemistry works on-screen and they look good then nobody will object to it. By: Vijaya Tiwari.

On her new song Humko Tum Mil Gaye

Yes, I am really happy that the song is doing well. There's a very different sort of romance in this particular song. It is a romance in the eyes in this song. It is more of a love song. It is a beautiful song, more of gratitude, full of thank you for each other. It is a song which depicts being there for each other. That's what the song depicts.

I got goosebumps when I first heard the song

When I heard the song, I got goosebumps literally. Vishal has sung the song beautifully, Naresh sir, Mithoon we know how brilliant their compositions are. There was no doubt in my mind related to the song, because they have composed such a beautiful song. Vishal Mishra has sung it so beautifully. We have loved his songs from Kabir Singh. I was very excited to be a part of this song. Also, the way the story was written for the music video was amazing. It is shown that a husband who is a pilot returns home on a wheelchair and then how he gets support, encouragement from his wife. She takes care of him every day and makes sure he gets back on his feet. The story is beautiful and we have tried to tell this heart-touching story in 4 mins.

On reuniting with Dheeraj and romancing him after he played a villain in her last show

That's the reason we came back together on-screen. I think it's good to break the barriers and stereotypes. I remember and I want to tell everyone that I have romanced Priyank Sharma on-screen who is my buddy and is younger to me. I think gone are the days when I cannot romance someone on-screen, if that person has played my son, or I have played his mother or someone else has played my father. I think it all depends on appearance. I don't think we need to have these barriers or stereotypes thinking that people might not like it. The audience will like it, if we suit our parts and look good together. I don't think there should be any taboo or any kind of stereotype. Just because someone played my son, or villain and I was a heroine in our previous show so we cannot work together, shouldn't happen.

Won't mind romancing Mohsin Khan or Rohan Mehra on-screen

I am again making an effort to break the barriers which is why we were cast opposite each other. The makers of the song loved the love-hate relationship between Dheeraj and me in Naagin 5. I said yes immediately. I said why not break the barriers and set an example that no matter what characters you played in your last project, if you look good on-screen you should do the project. Tomorrow, if I am offered a song and I have to romance Mohsin Khan or Rohan Mehra on-screen I will do it why not. I will make sure I justify the song and we look good as a couple. End of the day we are actors and I feel nobody will question us. If we perform and our chemistry is visible, nobody is going to question us and it's high time we should break these stereotypes.

Dheeraj is a simple and dedicated towards his work

Honestly, we spent a lot of time together while doing the song. We chatted a lot with each other. Dheeraj is a very simple person and is very dedicated towards his work. He recently shared with me that he had told his family and friends a few years ago that he wants to work with Hina. He told me he kept on manifesting it and it happened. I think all his manifestations have come true. Now, he is manifesting that he wants to do a film with me and I think that might also come true. And it's not like only he loves working with me, I would also like to work with him. I feel whatever he is manifesting and asking from the universe is coming true. Let's see what happens next.

Music videos take less time to shoot and depict various emotions

I think with the trend of music videos coming in and everything getting digitalised it is all about social media. Also, with the situation of pandemic, shootings not happening and they have recently resumed, only a few films have gone on floors. So, during this time music videos can be made in a short time and a small story can be depicted with full emotions. You don't have to shoot for days, in a matter of two days, you can shoot the entire video. The audience enjoys it and social media is on boom these days. People stay connected and love us for the content we share on social media.

Hina Khan is Daddy's girl in real-life

I don't know how many people know about it. But I came to Mumbai lying and only my father knew about it. I had only discussed it with my father and nobody knew what I was doing in Mumbai. My mother and other family members thought I was in Delhi. Only my dad knew about it. My father has been my partner in crime in whatever decisions I have taken in life. In the future also whatever I will do or now whatever I am doing, I am going to share with my father. I take my father in favour first and when my mom gets angry I put the entire blame on my father (laughs). He gets shocked and gets all the scolding from my mom. I have always been my dad's princess. Even during Bigg Boss 11, it was written behind my bed 'Daddy's Girl' and that I have been since childhood.

In the last interview you told us that you're very very "religious " Currently India could do with a little less religious people.
