Gulfam Khan, who will soon be seen in a web series called Waack Girls, celebrated her 11th wedding anniversary with her husband (Ali Hussain) on May 1. She went for a staycation to the Taj Mahal Palace, Colaba, Mumbai, to celebrate her big day.
“We love traveling, but as Ali was leaving on a work trip just a couple of days after the anniversary, he took me for a two-day staycation at my favourite Taj Mahal Palace, Colaba,” she said.
She calls her husband the boon of her existence and says that he is her biggest fan, cheerleader, and supporter. She added, “He is the wind beneath my wings. My marriage with Ali is the elixir of friendship, love, and romance. We fit in perfectly, like they say, "a square peg to a square hole.”
Gulfam also shared that their marriage is built on understanding, unconditional support, 100% faith, and lots of fun. Even on the busiest days, the couple tries to make time for each other. She said, “You have to look forward to spending more time with your partner, and today should be better than yesterday. We try to bring newness every day, whether it's playing a board game or doing some outdoor activity.”
The actress is, however, saddened to hear about so many failed marriages today. She said, “Marriage, like every other beautiful thing, needs nurturing and a lot of patience. Ali and I both believe it takes some effort to make every relationship a success. You need to make that effort.”
A tip to people to sustain a long and healthy married life? “Marry only when you are ready. Never marry under peer or societal pressure. Once you're done with the initial excitement of the wedding, put equal and enough effort into making the marriage happy, understand each other's perspective, have lots of fun, think of ways to bring newness to things, laugh a lot, cry some with your loved ones, and most importantly, talk. Tell each other what you feel and what makes you happy; a happy marriage is a successful marriage,” Gulfam ended.
