Gautam Singh Vig, who participated in Bigg Boss 16 and was last seen in a cameo in Dalchini, has been cast as the male lead in Rashmi Sharma’s upcoming TV show. Bhakharwadi actress Akshita Mudgal has been signed as the female protagonist in the family drama.
A source associated with the project informed us, "Gautam and Akshita were finalised a while ago. The casting and details of the show have been kept under wraps. The story revolves around politics and the changes the girl brings into the guy's life after she meets him. Shooting will commence in a couple of weeks.”
Both Gautam and Akshita were unavailable for comment.
The show will mark Gautam’s second collaboration with Rashmi Sharma’s production house, having previously appeared in the producer’s Saath Nibhaana Saathiya 2. Gautam has also been part of TV shows such as Naamkarann, Ishq Subhan Allah, Tantra, Pinjara Khubsurti Ka, Agni Vayu, and Juniooniyatt.
Though he has been consistently working in television, Gautam explores film opportunities whenever they come his way. In a previous interview earlier this year, while talking about choosing between TV shows and films, he told us, “I go with the flow. Most of us eventually aspire to enter films, but I will keep my options open until I secure a substantial role. I am realistic about not getting multiple opportunities to make a mark in Bollywood, so I am patiently waiting until I land a good project. I owe my success to television and will always hold it in high regard. TV serves as a workshop, and I continue to take up TV shows to enhance my skills and upgrade myself. Acting is a performing art, and without regular performance, growth is limited.”
On the other hand, Akshita, who began her journey as a participant in DID Li’l Masters Season 2, has appeared in TV shows like Yeh Moh Moh Ke Dhaagey, Half Marriage, Mitegi Laxman Rekha, Ishq Par Zor Nahi, and Iss Mod Se Jaate Hain. She was last seen in Tulsidham Ke Laddu Gopal.
