Exclusive - Gaurav S Bajaj on playing Beera in Dhaakad Beera: The audience response has been really loving, and I truly felt accepted
Actor , who plays the lead role of in , produced by Yash and Mamta Patnaik, is earning love from audiences for his powerful portrayal. The show recently took a generational leap, and Gaurav has seamlessly stepped into the shoes of the grown-up Samrat, now Beera — a character rooted in emotion, strength, and purpose.
“The audience response has been really loving, and I truly felt accepted,” shares Gaurav. “When a show takes a leap, it’s not about replacing someone—it’s about evolving the story. The audience is already prepared to see the older side of the characters. I’m glad they’ve accepted me as the grown-up Samrat.”
To ensure continuity and authenticity, the actor revisited the early and final pre-leap episodes to understand the emotional graph. “I watched the first seven and last four episodes before the leap. Small details like how the young Samrat addressed his Dadi helped me build a seamless connection between both versions,” he explains.
Gaurav shares that his version of Beera is layered with compassion and conviction. “Beera is a messiah, a caretaker, especially for women in his village. He wants to change old-school mindsets and give women their dignity and voice. He’s emotional, protective, and yet very composed.”
He adds that portraying Beera’s maturity came from a personal space. “Beera returns after 14 years of living alone. That solitude shaped him, just like my own experiences of living independently as a teenager. His calmness and tone come from that lived maturity.”
Reflecting on the child actors’ performances, Gaurav expresses admiration: “The kids built a beautiful foundation for us. I watched their scenes to understand their rhythm, but I wanted to bring my own freshness. You can’t copy someone—you have to evolve the character.”
With his natural charm and emotional depth, Gaurav S Bajaj is redefining Beera for a new generation — and clearly, the audience is loving every bit of it.
