It was a double celebration for mom-to-be Dimpy Ganguly yesterday (July 26). Not only did she celebrate her birthday, but also had her ‘shaad’ (Bengali-style baby shower).
In the ritual, the mom-to-be is fed all her favourite delicacies in traditional style. While Dimpy shared pictures from her birthday celebration, ETimes TV has exclusively learnt that she had an intimate baby-shower too in presence of her family.
When asked, Dimpy told us, “Well my mom-in-law cooked up a storm with rice, 5 rokom bhaja, bandhakopir torkari with macher matha, katla komola and chutney and mom arrived with potol posto, mutton kosha biryani and mishti from Kolkata. All my favorite things!!!” (My mom-in-law cooked 5 types of fried items, cabbage with fish head fry, fish item and chutney. My mom got poppy seeds with pointed gourd, mutton biryani and sweets)
Dimpy revealed that in the first two pregnancies she couldn’t celebrate a baby shower as her first child Reanna was premature and during her second pregnancy, there was Covid-19. She shared, “When I was pregnant with Reanna, because she came early, there wasn't a scope for a shaad. With Aryaan, my mom-in-law couldn't come because it was lockdown due to COVID-19. This time I was so happy that everyone could be present. This baby is a true blood ‘Ganguly-Roy!’”
On social media, Dimpy wrote, “34 years around the sun, and this was the most special one with my two mother's, one who gave me life and the other who gave me her life (@acidxxx). Thank you universe for this so special moment and thank you to all of you who called, texted, DMed and posted lovely birthday wishes. I had an amazing day full of love and family.”
In an exclusive interview with ETimes TV previously, Dimpy had spoken about waiting for her mom to visit from Kolkata.
