Dev Joshi: Facts about the Baalveer actor you probably didn't know

We all have known Dev Joshi as the kid who has been seen in the character of Baalveer in the show Baal Veer and now Baal Veer Returns but not many how he reached this place and how he has grown from a child artist to an adult one! Read ahead…

He started his career when he was 3 years old

If you think he has only done Baal Veer then you are wrong. He started his career with theatre and regional Gujarati shows and later on debuted with the show Mahima Shani Dev Ki and then Kashi- Ab Na Rahe Tera Kagaz Kora.

Even though he stayed in Mumbai, he studied in Ahmedabad

He shifted to Mumbai when he was very young but still he studied in Ahmedabad. “I studied in Hiramani Senior Secondary School and for 20 days I used to stay in Mumbai and shoot and the rest 10 I used to travel to my home town to cover the one month syllabus and study. It was challenging but it was fun too,” shares Dev.

4/8

He chose his college in Ahmedabad too

But even though he established himself in Mumbai and rather than choosing a college in Mumbai, he still chose his home town, why? He answers, “I still travel for a few days to attend college I know its hectic but I wanted to stay connected to my roots and thus I chose to study in LD Arts College in Ahmedabad.”

From 12 to 20 years old, he grew up playing Baal Veer

From the year 2012 till 2021 he has been a part of the show and the actor has grown up on the sets of the show. “It has been a journey that has changed my life. I have learnt so much. We all have had so much fun and sometimes quarrelled too since we all were kids and this is something which was bound to happen too,” shares Dev.

6/8

He remembers the co-actor’s study group on the sets

But even on the sets, along with his co-stars they used to study together. “We all were around the same age and thus, while we had breaks, we used to put up a table together and study. Just like it happens, kids sitting together and studying and then when we used to get called for shots we all used to go,” shares Dev.

7/8

He credits his parents for being so supportive

His parents too travel with him to Mumbai and Ahmedabad. “While my mother all the time with me, my dad who has a business in my hometown stays less with us. My mother used to understand everything from my teacher and then used to teach me so that I could prepare myself during my exams. More than my director my parents used to tell me how to do the correct expressions and say things,” he signs off.

Graduated from doing one character to doing six now in Baalveer Returns

In an interview with us earlier he had shared that, in the upcoming season though, he will be playing six different characters in a single show. Not only that, it will also be his first time playing a negative role in a television show.

Speaking about this development he says, "When I first heard about the challenge of playing six different roles, I was nervous. But I thought to myself that this is something I must try and took it up. I am playing six different characters and all need their own space in my mind.
