Exclusive - Dalljiet Kaur on travelling with son Jaydon: From toddler chaos to travel buddies for life
Actress Dalljiet Kaur is in a new phase of motherhood, one filled with airports, passport stamps, shared meals, and the joy of discovering the world through the eyes of her son, Jaydon. What once felt overwhelming has now transformed into one of the strongest pillars of their bond: travel.
Dalljiet recalls how challenging it used to be when Jaydon was younger. Managing flights, luggage, tantrums, nap schedules and the unpredictability of travelling with a toddler often left her drained. “Earlier he was so small, everything took double the effort. Travelling alone with him used to feel like a mission,” she shares.
But today, things have changed beautifully. Now that Jaydon is older, he has become her official travel buddy, enthusiastic, involved, and genuinely curious. “He loves travelling now. He may not be the adventurous kind who wants to jump off cliffs or do crazy rides, but he loves understanding the city or country we’re visiting,” says Dalljiet. Before every trip, Jaydon does his homework, reading about the culture, history, and food of their next destination. It has become their little pre-vacation ritual.
One of the sweetest aspects of their travels is their shared love for food. Mother and son bond over discovering new cuisines, tasting local flavours, and discussing what they loved (or didn’t) about each dish. “Food is our thing. It’s our comfortable conversation,” laughs Dalljiet.
With his growing confidence, Jaydon has even started giving his “two bits” to their travel plans. From picking cafés to suggesting monuments or museums, he plays an active role in crafting their itineraries. “He helps hugely with so many things now. Sometimes it genuinely feels like two friends travelling together,” she smiles.
For Dalljiet, travelling with Jaydon today is not just about seeing new places, it’s about watching her son grow, think, observe, and evolve. And for Jaydon, every trip is a chance to learn, eat, explore and spend uninterrupted quality time with his mom.
What began as a tiring task has now become their most cherished way of making memories — one country, one meal, and one adventure at a time.
