Exclusive - Chef Harpal Singh Sokhi: Laughter Chefs has connected me with a whole new audience
Celebrity chef Harpal Singh Sokhi, who is currently seen in Laughter Chefs Season 3, has become a household name today. He was earlier seen in other culinary shows like Turban Tadka and Made In Punjab, to name some, from which his catchphrase "namak shamak" became famous.
Talking about his journey, he said, "The journey from Namak Shamak to Laughter Chefs has been beautiful and full of learning. I feel very blessed and grateful. I always thank the Almighty, my guardian angels, and my parents for guiding me in every phase of life. Whatever I am today is because of their love, faith, and support."
"Laughter Chefs has connected me with a whole new audience, and the love people have given me through this show feels very special. It motivates me to keep working harder and to continue entertaining people with honesty and dedication," he added.
Laughter Chef is a mix of comedy and cooking, and Chef Harpal is a pro at both. He said, "Humor comes naturally to me. I believe that being able to laugh at yourself keeps you grounded and humble. Life becomes lighter when you do not take yourself too seriously."
"I enjoy spreading smiles, and if making a joke about myself makes someone happy, then I am glad to do it. A good sense of humor helps me stay positive, handle pressure, and connect with people in a real and honest way," he added.
But despite his successful journey, he doesn't like to reveal much about his personal life. He said, "I prefer to keep my personal life private because my family likes it that way. They do not enjoy being in the limelight and want to live a simple and peaceful life."
His wife’s name is Aparna, who is a homemaker. He said, "She is also an excellent cook. She is a wonderful chef in her own way. Recently, she appeared in one of the episodes of Laughter Chefs Season 3, and that episode was loved a lot by the audience. It was very special for both of us, and I was very happy to see people shower so much love on her."
Asked what he loves to cook for her, he said, "She loves anything that I cook for her, because she knows it is made with love. I also love eating the food she cooks, because she is truly very talented in the kitchen."
"For us, cooking is not just about food. It is about care, warmth, happiness, and togetherness. Cooking at home feels like a beautiful bonding time," he added.
What next? "My ambitions are very big, both as a chef and as a restaurateur. I want my restaurant to grow and reach great heights. The name represents deep culinary craftsmanship, and I want it to become a place that celebrates flavors, culture, and creativity in food. My dream is to build a strong brand that people trust, enjoy, and feel emotionally connected to. I also want to keep learning, evolving, and contributing more to the food industry," Chef Harpal concluded.
