Exclusive - Bigg Boss 19: From opening up about her relationship with Kumar Sanu to calling Malti Chahar a 'lesbian'; Kunickaa Sadanand breaks silence on her journey

Kunickaa Sadanand, who recently got evicted from Bigg Boss 19, has finally spoken candidly about the various controversies surrounding her stint. From discussing her past relationship with Kumar Sanu, marriages to addressing the heated exchanges with Abhishek Bajaj and her much-talked-about remark on Malti Chahar, the actress addressed all the controversies. In an exclusive chat with Times of India TV, the veteran actress spoke about her turbulent journey inside the house. (Photo: Instagram)

On her eviction and audience loving her gameplay

No, I’m not disappointed. I feel my journey has been wonderful. I contributed a lot to the show and stayed true to who I am. I believe I deserved to be in the race for the trophy. People on social media are saying it was unfair and that I shouldn’t have been evicted, and that Ashnoor or Malti should have gone instead. So for me, that itself proves I’m already a winner. It feels great. I’m happy that people appreciated my stint on the show and I’m thankful for all the support. I’m sure this experience will help me in the long run, as an actor, an advocate, and an activist. Even Gen Z connected with me, so when I speak about national issues, they will understand and relate to what I say, which is a good sign. (Photo: Instagram)

On getting candid about her past relationships and divorces

I have never rejected or hidden my life. When I was chatting with Gaurav and Pranit, I mentioned having eight relationships, but the truth is I’ve only had six, my math was so off in that moment that I accidentally added two extra. Everything I did, my mistakes, my relationships, my past, I accepted it all with gratitude. I made those choices knowingly, so I don’t feel embarrassed or ashamed of anything. My only concern in the house was that whatever I shared would eventually reach my children. But even then, my kids already know everything about me. My life has always been open, and those who have followed me from the beginning also know the kind of relationships I’ve had. So I never felt the need to hide anything. I’ve always taken ownership of my life, and I still do. This is my story, and I stand by it completely. (Photo: Instagram)

On her relationship with Kumar Sanu

I did not speak about my relationship for nearly three decades and never addressed it publicly. I finally spoke about it on the show. When we got into the relationship, he was still legally married but living apart from his wife, and the two of us were staying together. I wasn’t married during that period either. Eventually, he got involved with someone else, and I walked away from the relationship. (Photo: Instagram)

Salman knew about my relationship with Kumar Sanu ji

Salman has always known about my relationships. He knew because we worked together on sets, and he would hear things or the media would ask me, and I would openly acknowledge everything. He knew who I had a crush on and who I was genuinely in a relationship with, including Kumar Sanu ji. Even when I got married, people from the industry were aware. That’s how it is, we all know about each other’s lives. Just like I know what’s going on in Salman’s life, because we are colleagues and naturally take interest in one another. (Photo: Instagram)

I continued giving auditions while studying law and starting my legal practice

I truly hope my name gets revived again. I continued giving auditions while studying law and starting my legal practice, and I still wish to take on strong, meaningful roles. I’ve devoted nearly 40 years to this industry, yet I didn’t receive the opportunities I hoped for. But now, anything is possible, many people begin new chapters at 60, and perhaps I will too. I didn’t realize how huge Bigg Boss was until I heard the contestants talk about it. For me, it became a dream-like platform. I wanted to test myself, to see how I would manage without speaking to my children, without my phone, without interacting with my social workers or friends. I’m glad I took that step. Now, I leave it to God, to guide the next phase of my life. (Photo: Instagram)

On cursing Abhishek and dragging his mom

I asked Abhishek at least 15 times what he had said, but he never replied. He always behaved like this, he would make a comment and then avoid the conversation when confronted. At that moment, I called him out and asked him to repeat it if he wasn’t a coward. He stayed silent. The next day, Ashnoor told me, “Ma’am, Abhishek didn’t say anything about you,” but I knew she wasn’t being truthful. He definitely said something. I told her that if she really wanted to clarify things, she should have spoken up when I asked him directly. But she kept insisting that Abhishek never said anything, even though I knew the truth. Abhishek hurt me a lot

I felt bad because of Abhishek. On his birthday, I prepared food especially for him, I was making bhaturas at 12 in the night, and I spent the whole day roasting besan laddoos. Even after doing so much for him, he still ended up calling me names. That really hurt me. Honestly, I didn’t personally feel like doing anything special for his birthday. But since Ashnoor wanted to plan a surprise for him, I supported her and helped with all the arrangements. So this was also where he went wrong, and that added to the hurt I felt. (Photo: Instagram)

I couldn't trust Abhishek

That’s why I couldn’t trust Abhishek afterward. I felt he would say something behind my back, and later I learned that he actually said many bad things about me. I always sensed negativity from his side, I could feel that energy, but I kept telling myself that maybe I was overthinking. After coming out, when I found out that he has been saying a lot of bad things about me, it became clear that my instincts were right. I’m glad I understood his nature on time and chose to keep some distance from him. (Photo: Instagram)

Teasing Malti and Gaurav Khanna taking Akanksha's name, wasn't wrong

No, it wasn’t a mistake. I noticed Gaurav Khanna sitting near Malti’s feet, and I mentioned it with a smile, saying, ‘Look what’s happening.’ It wasn’t meant as a fight between Akanksha and Gaurav, it was just a light comment about what I saw. Just like I made a joke about Baseer earlier. Everything was said in a fun manner, not out of hatred. I still don’t feel it was wrong, so I don’t accept any fault for that. (Photo: Instagram)

Calling Malti a lesbian

I was upset with Malti. I was only stopping her from entering Farrhana’s personal space when she was standing too close. Whatever happened has happened, and it doesn’t matter now. What’s important is understanding that it was not the right thing to say on such a big platform, especially with so many cameras around. It came across as if I was judging someone, which was never my intention. I was wrong in making a comment on her sexual preference. (Photo: Instagram)
