Exclusive - Akashdeep Saigal on Smriti Irani's comeback to Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2: Despite being a successful politician, she has stayed connected to her roots
Akashdeep Saigal, who recently made a comeback to the small screen after a 9 year hiatus with Naagin 7, is earning rave reviews for his performance. The actor popularly known for his role of Ansh Gujral from Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi recently joined Times of India TV for an exclusive chat. During the interview, Akashdeep spoke about the return of the iconic TV show and Smriti Irani's comeback to acting.
Talking about his memories from Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi and the show's success, he said, "I faced a lot of trolling and hate messages while playing Ansh Gujral. That showed the impact of the character and proved that my work was effective. The show was number one then, and it continues to be number one even now. It has its own charm and a loyal audience. Now that I am part of Naagin 7, I want to create something equally memorable here. I want viewers to stay hooked every Saturday and Sunday at 8 pm. This show has that power. Not just this season, but all seasons have been special, and I am confident about that. But for now, my focus is completely on season 7."
Akashdeep, who played Smriti Irani’s on-screen son Ansh Gujral, praised the actress-turned-politician for returning to television despite her successful political career. He said, "About Smriti’s comeback, I just want to say that she is fantastic. She has always been brilliant. She has got an elephant memory. Her memory is unbelievable, she can read something once and remember it word for word. She is truly gifted. May Mata Rani always bless her. She is a very successful politician today, and that makes her journey even more special. Despite achieving so much, she has stayed connected to her roots and where she started from. She clearly has immense love and respect for Ekta, which is why she agreed to return. Honestly, I don’t think she would have come back for just any other show. This is the magic of Balaji.”
When asked if he would return to Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi if offered a role again, Akashdeep said, "There is no question of me saying no to Ekta. I can never refuse her, whether it is Kyunki or any other project. That is the kind of equation I share with her. She has an incredible vision, and whenever she creates something, it turns magical. Ekta is truly the queen of television, and everyone knows that. Words are never enough to describe her work. She always comes back with something powerful, and once again, she has done it. If there is any role that suits me, you will definitely see me in it. Saying no to Ekta is simply not possible for me. She is a guiding force in our industry."
