Exclusive - Abhishek Sharrma opens up on Vasudha’s riches‑to‑rags twist: Playing Dev’s struggles taught me real life lessons
Vasudha’s latest story track takes the audience on an emotional journey as Dev transitions from a life of wealth and privilege to surviving in a chawl. This dramatic shift has added a powerful new layer to his narrative, allowing viewers to witness Dev’s resilience in the face of hardship. For Abhishek Sharrma, who leads the show, this phase marks one of the most creatively fulfilling and exciting chapters.
Reflecting on the current journey that his character has undertaken, Abhishek shared, “We have already left the house and are living in Hanumanth’s home, but the poverty track continues as Dev adjusts to life in the chawl. For me, it has been a very exciting track because I always feel fulfilled playing such transitions, like moving from being a royal CEO to a normal guy trying to earn his bread by delivering parcels.” For Abhishek, the challenge lies in capturing the nuances of Dev’s new reality. “As an actor, it’s about bringing honesty to the role of a delivery person. To understand the implications better, I spoke to real delivery workers during shoots. They told me about strict timelines, quotas, and the pressure of accepting the next order immediately. That gave me a deeper sense of the struggles they face daily.” This holistic approach has turned the track into a learning experience for the young actor, both in the profession and in his personal life. Even now, I continue to deliver boxes on screen, and it remains a valuable learning experience for me. Acting gives you the freedom to step into new lives, and with Dev, I’ve had the opportunity to connect with real human experiences.”
As Vasudha continues to unfold, Abhishek Sharrma’s portrayal of Dev’s fall from affluence to poverty is set to strike a strong emotional chord with audiences. Through this transformation, Abhishek once again proves his range and commitment as an actor, reinforcing the idea that resilience, humility, and authenticity lie at the heart of every meaningful journey, both on screen and off.
