Dr BR Ambedkar actor Atharva Karve to marry Sakshi Mahajan on February 6
Atharva Karve, who has been part of films such as Harishchandrachi Factory and Balgandharva as a child artiste and most recently played the title role of young Dr BR Ambedkar in Ek Mahanayak – Dr BR Ambedkar, is set to tie the knot with Marathi actress Sakshi Mahajan on February 6 in Pune.
Sharing details about the wedding celebrations, Atharva says, “Along with the main ceremony, we will also be celebrating pre-wedding rituals such as mehendi, haldi, and sangeet-cum-engagement. Considering our shooting schedules, it made sense to keep the celebrations concise and meaningful, spread over two days.”
The couple fell in love during the shoot of their Marathi show Vithu Mauli (2017). Recalling how their relationship began, he says, “Sakshi portrayed my wife in the show produced by Mahesh Kothare. That was where we first met and also the first time I got married on screen. Mahesh sir jokingly told me he had seen me grow up and was now giving me the opportunity to get married on television. None of us imagined that the girl I was marrying on screen would one day become my wife in real life. The proposal was simple and special. I received her at the airport with a small bouquet and a chocolate and asked her to be in a relationship. She said yes immediately. She is a very talented actress with an amazing sense of humour. I am an introvert, and she is an extrovert, and in our case, opposites truly attracted.”
Atharva believes their bond truly strengthened after the show ended. He says, “Often, relationships that begin on television sets change once the show wraps up, but for us it was different. We stood by each other through ups and downs, even during the lockdown. She was in her hometown, and I was in Pune, yet we stayed emotionally connected and supported each other.”
Sakshi has been part of shows such as Kon Hotis Tu Kaay Zaalis Tu, Majhi Manasa, Ude Ga Ambe, and Mere Sai.
