Divyanka Tripathi reveals how hosting Crime Patrol took a toll on her mental health; says 'raat ko mujhe nightmares...'
Divyanka Tripathi, who is known for her power-packed performances in shows like Dulhann, Yeh Hai Mohabbatein, The Magic Of Shiri, Adrishyam, tried her hands at hosting with Crime Patrol. However, the experience was not at all comfortable for her as it not only affected her mental but Divyanka also had nightmares. Divyanka and her husband Vivek Dahiya recently appeared on Bharti Singh and Haarsh Limbachiyaa's Podcast in which she shared her ordeal.
Speaking about the time when Divyanka worked as host on Crime Patrol, she said, "Main Crime Patrol anchor kar rahi thi. Kaafi saare episodes the, Women Against Crime ka ek segment tha. Mera condition tha ki sirf anchoring nahi karungi, mujhe kahaani bhi jaanani hai. Ab har baar pata chalta ki main kahaani jaanu, wahan ladki ghar se nikli haste khelte aur kuch ho gaya. Har kahaani pe woh horror tha. Pata chalta ki main anchoring ke script padhte padhte raat ko mujhe nightmares aa rahe hain, aur next din main headache leke pahunch rahi hoon shoot pe. That happened for 3–4 months and it affected me."
(I was anchoring Crime Patrol for quite a few episodes, specifically for a segment called Women Against Crime. I had one condition — I didn't just want to anchor; I wanted to know the full story behind each case. Every time I learned the details, it would hit me hard — a girl would leave her home happy, and something tragic would happen. Every story carried a sense of horror. Slowly, reading the scripts for anchoring started affecting me deeply. I began having nightmares at night and would show up on set the next day with a splitting headache. This continued for about three to four months and really took a toll on me.)
Divyanka's husband Vivek Dahiya shared his opinion and stated that during such times it is important for an actor to learn to switch on and off emotionally, "You have to learn a mechanism jahan aap poora mat daaldo. Ek switch-off karlo, he said."
Haarsh, who is a writer-turned-host, spoke about how doing comedy is a difficult genre, "Aadmi khushi ko kam hold kar paata hai, lekin dard kaafi time rehta hai. Ek joke mein baar-baar nahi has sakte, toh ek dukh pe baar-baar rote kyun ho."
(A person struggles to hold onto happiness, but pain tends to linger much longer. You can't laugh at the same joke again and again, so why keep crying over the same sorrow repeatedly?)
