So what would you prefer – fried silk worms for breakfast or hunting your own rat for lunch? Chilli eye rub for cleansing or a roadside dentist appointment? Absurd and bizarre, isn’t it? FOX Traveller presents some of the most amazing and quirky stories from across the country in the second season of its popular show, “It Happens Only In India!” Actor
Sugandha Garg will undertake this fun journey through the lesser-known India to find what can only be termed as bizarre.
A refreshing change from regular travel-based shows, “It Happens Only in India!” is not about luxury hotels, gourmet cuisine or cruise parties. It showcases all the madness, unimaginable customs, freaky traditions and improbable heroes that make our country unique. Sugandha will take you through the by-lanes of cities that are unheard of – Bundi in Rajasthan, Majuli in Assam, Almora in Uttarakhand and Maheshwar in Madhya Pradesh, among others.
Speaking about her experience on the show, Sugandha Garg said, “It was a sheer delight to witness this side of India. From monuments to crafts, textiles to cuisine, a lot has been talked about India’s diversity but I was simply amazed at all that I explored. Be it coffee processed from the droppings of a civet cat or “Ulta Ramayana” and “Bhagvad Gita”, which can be read only with a mirror or street dentists who practice their ‘art’ on the footpath, emu egg omelettes to red ant chutneys, I have discovered so much that it has left me wide-eyed and open-mouthed.
”
Said Debarpita Banerjee, vice president, marketing, NGC Network India & Fox International Channels, “India is a diverse country, with many interesting stories strewn across the states. In the first season, we presented a few of these lesser known places and received great response. This year, we have gone deeper into the country and have discovered the truly quirky country we live in that’s hiding in the many by-lanes. The show promises many fun journeys and stays high on the wow factor.”
“It Happens Only In India!” goes on air on May 6 at 8pm.
