Digvijay Purohit: Everything in TV is uncertain; it all depends on the ratings
Actor Digvijay Purohit, currently seen in Tuu Juliet Jatt Di, produced by Sargun Mehta and Ravie Dubey, believes that unpredictability is at the core of television storytelling. “Everything in TV is uncertain—it all depends on the ratings,” he says. “As ratings come in, creatives bring in twists and turns to gain more eyeballs. The energy and pace change, sometimes suddenly, but that’s the nature of this medium—you just have to be ready and do it convincingly.”
For Digvijay, these constant shifts are both challenging and exciting. “Sometimes you get to do something completely different, which is exciting, and sometimes it becomes demanding because you have to make it believable and truthful,” he explains. Despite the unpredictability, he sees it as part of the profession.
He also acknowledges that not every twist resonates with everyone. “Some tracks might feel regressive to a few, but at the end of the day, it’s a business. Shows shut down in a few months if they don’t perform. As an actor, your job is to portray whatever comes your way convincingly—it can be mentally demanding at times.”
What keeps him grounded is his approach to performance. “Only when I believe in it myself will it come across as truthful. My focus is always on how I can make it believable for the audience. No matter how strange the twist is, my effort is to make the audience believe in it—that’s what matters most.”
