Did you know Anupamaa' actor Rupali Ganguly once romanced Mithun Chakraborty onscreen in a Bollywood film?
Bollywood superstar Mithun Chakraborty recently visited the sets of his daughter-in-law, Madalsa Sharma's TV show, Anupamaa and met all her co-stars warmly. They all were excited to see him and even clicked pictures with him. However, not many are aware of an interesting fact about the veteran actor that he has worked with the lead actress and his daughter-in-law Madalsa Sharma's co-star, Rupali Ganguly in the past.
Yes, you read it right. Mithun and Rupali have romanced each other onscreen back in the 90s. The two starred in a film titled 'Angaara' which released in 1996 and it was directed by Rupali's father and late filmmaker Anil Ganguly. The film had Mithun and Rupali playing on-screen lovers.
Their recent pictures from the sets of Anupmaa reminded the film goers about the movie Angaara. In one of her earlier interactions with Times of India, Rupali had remembered her meeting with Mithun Da on the sets of Dance India Dance. She had said back then, "Then he went on record to say that ‘had this girl been serious about her career, she would have been one of the topmost actresses’ today.’ Even his saying that was enough."
Coming back to the TV show, Anupamaa, Rupali Ganguly and Madalsa Sharma play arch rivals on the show. Madalsa plays the role of Kavya, who is now married to Anupamaa aka Rupali Ganguly's ex-husband Vanraj aka Sudhanshu Pandey.
Madalsa is married to Mithun Chakraborty’s son Mimoh aka Mahaakshay.
