Desh Ki Beti Nandini: Rs 75 lakh lehenga for TV wedding
Weddings continue to be the high point of television shows with expensive sets, beautiful costumes and song-and-dance sequences giving viewers nothing less than a visual spectacle while sitting at home.
Desh Ki Beti Nandiniwill soon feature a big fat wedding as Rajveer (Rafi Malik) weds Nandini (Keerti Nagpure). The outfits for the couple, a lehenga and a sherwani were expensive, with the lehenga itself costing 75 lakh, designed specially for the show by Riyaz and Reshma Gangji.
So why is the wedding wear so costly. Says Riyaz, “We were told that the wedding is happening in a political family and such weddings are always very grand. The lehenga has been adorned with fresh white-water pearls and zardozi. To enhance the impact of cutwork, the fabric has been hand-cut. The wedding trousseau was designed in wine red colour for both bride and groom. The sherwanis are specially created to be worn while riding a horse or an elephant. These cuts are what actual Maharajas’ and Maharanis’ used to wear during their high profile weddings.”
Actress Keerti said, “I feel like a true rajkumari and this is definitely a dream wedding for Nandini!” Rafi echoed a similar sentiment. “I am speechless. This could not get better,” was all he could manage.
Desh Ki Beti Nandini airs from Monday to Friday at 9 pm on Sony Entertainment Television.
