Actress Gouri Tonnk who currently plays Sakshi Chaudhary in Deewaniyat, is fond of sesame sweets, especially Til Ke Laddu. Makar Sankranti is famous for its sesame sweets and kite flying. But there is much more to this festival that is a celebration of the Winter Solstice.
She said, "I'm fond of Til Ke Laddu, sweetened balls made from sesame seeds and jaggery. While growing up in a Maharashtrian community, Til Gud Ladoos (‘til’ meaning sesame and ‘gud’ meaning jaggery) were shared with everyone during the festival of Makar Sankranti. My mother is an amazing chef at my house. She cooks delicious food, and her Til Ke Laddu recipe is just yummy."
She continued, "I remember helping her during childhood, but now neither I get time from work to make them at home. Nor do I want my mom to make extra efforts in her growing age. So we buy our festival sweets from the market, they are easily available. I'm very particular about my taste, so before Sankranti, I make sure to taste at different places and accordingly place my order."
Gouri further spoke about her excitement as we moved into the new year 2025. "I'm always excited about new years, new beginnings with new surprises. Earlier I used to plan my year by making resolutions. But with time, I'm a changed person I now actually wait to see how the new year unfolds for me. Though I have some life resolutions which remain intact, like to not give up, be kind, be responsible and be grateful for everything I'm enjoying."
