Deepshika Nagpal shares her fitness mantra with TOIMy workout regime Everyday after waking up, I do yoga for about 15 minutes. I’m not much into weight training and focus more on free hand exercises. However, for my directorial debut film, in which I’m also starring, I had hired a personal trainer and would work out for an hour every day. Since I didn’t get much time during the day, I’d make it a point to exercise at night for at least an hour.
If for some reason, I’m unable to work out, I brisk walk for about half an hour. I think it’s a myth when people say that you should not exercise when you are tired. On the contrary, if you exercise when you are tired, you feel energetic and fresh.
My dietI am a vegetarian and as such have a very controlled diet and avoid junk food at all times. I prefer simple ghar ka khana, which has less oil and masala. However, like a typical Punjabi I have a sweet tooth and must have sweets everyday after a meal! I believe in the maxim — eat healthy, think healthy and be healthy.
Happiness quotientI’m a happy go lucky person and don’t believe in taking stress. In fact, in a tense situation I start laughing and smiling even more. I believe that our destiny is not in our hands and it is best to accept things as they happen. Even if things are not going my way, I feel I may as well smile and take matters lightly.
My idea of relaxationI love to indulge myself at a spa at least once a week. I love taking massages and listening to nice soothing music to feel completely relaxed and rejuvenated. I also believe that a positive attitude goes a long way in keeping you healthy.
