“Cinema has to speak to its viewers irrespective of its language,” says Sudesh Berry, a popular Hindi television actor, who is now gearing up to test waters in the south Indian film industry. The veteran actor is set to make his debut with the much-anticipated Mollywood flick Second Show and will soon follow it with a Kollywood movie, 555 with director Sasi (of Poo fame).
Though Sudesh admits that he has no grip on either language, he says, “The roles are more about speaking with your eyes than your tongue. And I feed on such roles because the expressions are essential to adding a beautiful depth to the character”
He continues, “In the south, cinema is the second religion and actors are treated like Gods. In Bollywood, you can’t expect to receive the same respect.”
The actor says everyone in the sets of Second Show were extremely helpful. He also beams that he fit in in the company of the young cast and crew of the film.
Sudesh also has words of praise for the lead actor andsuperstar
Mammootty’s son Dulquar Salman, who is also making his Mollywood debut.
“He is like a small piece of clay that could be moulded into anything by any filmmaker,” remarks the actor. “I found him very cool, innocent and nice hearted. For someone who is the son of one of the finest actors, he is so down to earth.”
