For child actors, who are not vaccinated against COVID-19 yet, working during these uncertain times is not easy. But talking to these powerhouse performers makes you realise that they thoroughly enjoy their craft, while relying on their parents to take care of their health.
On Children’s Day, some popular child actors on TV told us how they balance studies and acting and how they take care of their health during these unprecedented times.
Attend online classes and wear masks on the sets when not shooting: Shreya PatelRole Play: I like Anandi’s character (in
Balika Vadhu
) as it is just like me in real life. Anandi is fun-loving, brave and loves her family. I enjoy essaying a character that is an extension of me. I have enjoyed acting ever since I was very young. It comes naturally to me to enact a character, so it is good to do what I love. I will continue to act for as long as I can.
Studies matter: Academics are very important for me. I study when I get a break between the shots. We are allowed to attend our online classes. Science is my favourite subject and I love to learn about space. I want to become an astronaut or an actress.
Health is priority: I wear a mask whenever I don’t have a shot and wash my hands at regular intervals. My mother ensures that I maintain a healthy diet and fruit juice, nimbu paani and other fluids are part of my regular diet.

, I get to all the masti. I am fun-loving in real life too, but to showcase all the antics in the show to entertain everyone is a true delight. I have always been fascinated with acting on screen since a very young age. The idea of playing different characters is very exciting and entertaining everyone makes me extremely happy. Even when I am not shooting, if someone requests me to enact a character or recite dialogues, I do it for fun.
Studies matter: Since we are studying online, we finish our classes in the morning and come on the sets after 2 pm. The entire cast and crew are extremely supportive and if I have any assignments, they ensure that I complete them and balance my shoot schedule accordingly. I like studying on the sets with my other co-stars.
Health is priority: My mother ensures that I eat healthy. She carries homemade food and healthy snacks for me, which I keep having every few hours. I maintain social distancing and wear a mask when I don’t have a shot.

: I love Shivji. Even before getting this role in
Baal Shiv
, I used to start my day by chanting ‘Om Namah Shivay’ and I continue to do that. My father is into direction and my sister is also an actress. So, I have often been on the sets. Even when I used to come home, I used to keep saying, “Lights, camera, action!” I started liking acting and became an actor.
Studies matter: I study on the sets every day. The production team ensures that I get enough breaks between shots to study and relax.
