Pooja Bhatt on father Mahesh Bhatt - This 6 weeks will be the longest time that I’ve not spoken to him

I’m scared of one thing the most and that is one day there will be a time when I’ll have to bear everyone and the society without my father in it. This 6 weeks of my Bigg Boss are a test. These 6 weeks will be the longest time that I’ve not spoken to him. Recently, he went through a surgery and before that by the grace of god he has never been to hospital or fallen sick so I’ve never come face-to-face with that. I was doing fine so that was one test and now this is one test.

On her fear of losing his father Mahesh Bhatt

On his last birthday, he asked me, "Now you are leaving my office, what if you don’t see me after this?" We speak like this with each other sometimes. I told him I promise you that you won’t leave an emotional cripple behind and from wherever you will watch me, I’ll radiate. Otherwise what is the point of being your daughter if I go back to the same old habits and start drinking again. (Bottle mein apne aap ko Kho Doon).

Pooja Bhatt on quitting alcohol

I told Cyrus the other day about how I quit alcohol. It was a very simple thing. One day my father sent me a message, “I love you kid” and I replied to him, “I love you pops”. He then replied to me that if you genuinely love me then first start loving yourself because I live inside you.” That was like a wake up call to me and after that I did not touch alcohol ever. My point is whether he is physically around me or not if I’m there he’s here. That did it for me and love can move mountains. It healed my life. The next day I quit alcohol and it’s been six years now I’ve not touched it.

Pooja opens up on how Mahesh Bhatt quit alcohol

He quit alcohol some 30 years ago and I’m still crawling and I’m an infant. I remember people would say Mahesh Bhatt se Kabhi Sharab nahi chootegi… he would drink in front of everyone in public and would trip over also. Also, when you are successful you get a license to do everything because you are earning. But when your downfall starts, even your close ones will make you realise that you need money for alcohol and you don’t have it and you are not even successful. He quit one day randomly.

Pooja Bhatt on her married life

Pooja, who was married to Manish Makhija, a restaurant owner and Video Jockey talked about why her marriage didn't work out, "I was married for almost 11 years then we decided that something is not right and it is not working out. We should not live a lie and it is not a dress rehearsal. You get one chance in life. He was part of the entertainment industry. He is a very good human being, he’s Capricorn and that’s why we got along very well.

Pooja on why she never had kids

When Bebika added and asked her why she didn't have kids, “They are very practical in life and nobody can be a better father than them.” Pooja Bhatt said, "But I wasn’t ready to have kids at that point. I want kids and I love kids but at that point I didn’t want kids. I couldn’t lie at the risk of never meeting somebody, I couldn’t lie. It’s fine but I cannot lie."

We parted ways with dignity

Pooja further added, "When we start speaking a lie, Uske baad kya hota hai Na jhooth shuru ho jaata hai, the blame game starts and I didn’t want that. Whatever was there was there bahut Accha tha.., jab tak tha. Till the time dignity was there we were together. Then we parted ways on a good note." For the uninitiated, Pooja Bhatt and Manish Makhija parted ways in 2014.
