I prepared for Chakravyuh for almost eight months, and the show only lasted six months. For a while I felt ab main kya karoon. But it was a passing phase and I tried exploring different mediums after that. Eventually, I realised that the show not working, actually worked out for me, because I ended up doing a Telgu film, a web show, took up Mariyam - wo bhi nahi chala, then this happened.
Everything depends on numbers, and if a show isn’t gathering the required numbers, they call it off air. Also, there are many shows, different mediums and lot of competition - all of this affects TV.
But you have managed to survive all this. How?
Opportunities in television have been higher for me, but my goal for now is not to be stagnant in one medium. As an actor, if you stick to one medium, you don’t know what other mediums demand. I want to explore different mediums and that has kept me going.
So, are you also looking to venture into Hindi films?
It all depends on what kind of script I get and I do want to be a part of a big banner film. I would like to debut with a character that embraces women’s strength and weakness at the same time.
Sometime back you had maintained that you wouldn’t want to do intimate scenes. Will that change when you move to bigger mediums?
I said that when I was younger, but now I will act as the script demands. Things that I would like to do right now may change as I get more opportunities. If the script really demands a certain scene, I will see if it is required of me to go to the length and then decide. At the same time I can’t say that I’m now ready to do everything!
Due to the hectic TV schedules, you have missed a normal college life despite pursuing studies right now. Do you miss that?
It will be a lie if I say I don’t miss the college life experience. I miss being real, chilling around with my collegemates, because they are enjoying the moment. But to get something you have to give up on certain things.
Shubharambh
, has been gathering a good fan following despite the fact that some of her shows haven’t lasted as long as she would want. On a recent visit toIndore
