Arshiya Sharma gets real about portraying a rebellious kid in ‘Mangal Lakshmi’
Every household has that one spirited child who tests every boundary—and in ‘Mangal Lakshmi’, that firecracker is portrayed by the talented Arshiya Sharma. As Mangal’s daughter, she’s the classic rebel: quick to speak her mind, reluctant to show gratitude, and always a step away from causing fresh drama. While Mangal fights daily battles to protect and nurture her children, her daughter often becomes her most unexpected challenge.
What makes Arshiya’s portrayal striking is the emotional complexity she brings to the screen at such a young age. Her character comes across as difficult or demanding, but Arshiya plays her with realism and restraint—making sure viewers see more than just the tantrums. Off screen, however, Arshiya is a completely different person. Joyful, grounded, and incredibly focused, she balances her studies, shooting schedule, and dance routines like a total pro—bringing discipline to a role that thrives on chaos.
Speaking about her role Arshiya shares, “I’ve never spoken to my mom the way my character does in the show, so slipping into that mindset took effort. I started observing how kids behave when they feel frustrated or left out—how they talk, how they act—and I try to bring those small things into my scenes. I rehearse my lines in advance and work on understanding what my character is truly feeling in each situation. The team helps me prepare emotionally and gives me great advice on how to improve. In real life, I’m cheerful and respectful—I love dancing, and I make time for my studies even after shooting. Playing this role has really boosted my confidence, teaching me to empathise with the character rather than moralising it.”
