Arjun Bijlani: Mumbai is relatively safe even at night, especially due to active public transport and people around
Popular actor Arjun Bijlani, who was last seen in Pyar Ka Pehla Adhyaya: Shiv Shakti and won the first season of the reality show Rise And Fall, calls Mumbai a land of opportunities. Though he believes that there is work for everyone, he stressed that it needs effort and not just luck.
He said, "Mumbai teaches you resilience. It’s demanding, but it gives you unmatched opportunities and makes you stronger every day. It doesn't wait for anyone; if you make an excuse, you lose. But if you are a go-getter, if you have the fire in you, and you put in an effort, the city rewards you in ways you cannot imagine."
"There will be days when the city will put you to the test; it will check your patience and your endurance, and if you survive that, it will lift you, motivate you, and open newer and better opportunities for you. The city is not about comfort but rather growth. And if you are able to survive the initial few years in Mumbai, you will have a completely different mindset about life, and you will be able to take up any challenges," he added.
He further mentioned that time is currency in Mumbai. He said, "People here value time, discipline, and hard work here, which pushes you to grow professionally. Discipline is a survival skill in the city. You learn to manage long shooting hours, longer commutes, and people's expectations too."
Though he feels that the city is safer at night, he stressed that it is too crowded. He said, "Mumbai is relatively safe even at night, especially due to active public transport and people around. There are opportunities, diversity, and work ethic. But there is too much crowd, and traffic is insane. Even the cost of living is higher than any other Indian city."
He also explained that while the city gives you a kick, it can be stressful at times. He added, "Balance is very important. The same energy that motivates you can be overwhelming sometimes, so it's important to understand when to pause. Balance will keep you grounded amidst the chaos."
Any two changes you would recommend? "Better infrastructure planning and more affordable housing," Arjun ended.
