Apple leaves 'Aapki Antara'
Apple Reetoria's mother takes her out of TV serial Aapki Antara saying Apple was made to work inhumanly for the serial
Youve seen her in the promos of the new TV serial Aapki Antara, but you definitely wont be seeing Apple Reetoria in the serial. The child actress has left the serial , with her mother citing inhuman working hours and impersonal attitude of the crew as the reason.
So now, even though the four-year-old is no more a part of the serial, the promos currently on air showcase her.
Our source reveals, Apples mother put her foot down after the promos were shot and withdrew Apple from the serial.
Anjana Reetoria, Apples mother explains, Apple isnt playing the lead in Aapki Antara anymore. Going by the production houses attitude towards the child, I decided I couldnt let my child go through it. She was, for example, on May 9, made to shoot for three promos from 2pm to 2am. After that, they asked her to report on the sets at 8.30am. I requested them to postpone the shoot to noon as the child needed to sleep for at least eight hours. They agreed and we reported on time the following day. But then, they did not shoot a single scene till 5.30pm and all the waiting made Apple cranky and inconsolable . And instead of cheering the child, they vocally doubted her capabilities, and continued to shoot.
How can a child give her best after waiting endlessly for six hours questions Anjana. Also, when I requested the unit members to get familiar with Apple so that it would be easier for her to shoot, they did not pay heed. For a four-year-old child this was too much. As soon as I realised that they lacked the attitude and outlook to deal with a four-year-old , I opted out and asked them to cast someone else.
Anjana adds, The shoot for the serial began late and they have already announced May 25 as the date that the serial goes on air. Having a bank of episodes of the daily serial is out of question, and so, they will obviously have to shoot with a terribly tight schedule for hours on end. Imagine how much Apple would have to suffer. I have been a part of this industry. I handled Naagin as the creative director and know how child actors on these dailies suffer. Even when unwell or sleepy, a child is made to shoot to keep up the pace of the serial. I had had enough and have put my foot down, refusing to let Apple shoot any further.
So now, even though the promos show Apple, the makers have cast another kid. When questioned about casting a new child, director Sanjay Surkar refused to comment while producer Monish Sekhri says, Actually, we felt that a four-year-old kid would be too small for the role and have now cast a five-year-old child.
