‘Anupamaa’ January 1 written update: Anupama signs the redevelopment papers; finds the truth about Ishani’s whereabouts

The episode starts with Ishani’s case, as Jaspreet lies to everyone, including Anupama, and leaves for the police station. When she arrives, she confronts the police officers present and then accuses them of not handling the case. She also accuses them of not helping girls who have been fooled by the filmmaker, but rather arresting them instead.

Rajni almost gets Anupama to sign the redevelopment papers

The scene shifts back to the chawl area, where Rajni and Anupama talk about the papers. Rajni insists that it's crucial that she signs the papers right now. Although Anupama tries to stop her and tell her that she wishes to read the papers first before signing them, Rajni convinces her otherwise. She claims that there's nothing wrong and that Anupama will not be able to understand them anyway.




Anupama reluctantly agrees to sign the papers and starts doing so. Just as she is about to sign away on the last paper of the document, her daughter, Rahi, comes in and stops her right away. She tells her not to sign anything without properly reading what she is signing.

Rajni worries that Anupama will still delay signing the redevelopment papers, and instead starts getting defensive. She invites everyone around her to read the papers to see if there is anything wrong in them. She also starts accusing everyone around her of accusing and being suspicious of her.

Anupama signs away the papers

Rajni explains that her lawyer is currently in court and that Anupama’s signatures are needed right away to move forward with the case. Rahi starts questioning why Rajni feels it so urgently to get Anupama’s signature. As Rajni turns away in anger to leave the room, Anupama snatches the papers away and signs the last one, shocking everyone.

Rajni quickly leaves with the signed papers, though Rahi ends up confronting her mother about why she signed them without reading. Anupama defends her actions and presses that Rajni’s matter was urgent and that there is no issue. She also quips about how even she and Prem never insisted on reading through the document themselves either. She tries to reassure Rahi and tell her that there is nothing wrong.

Bharat and Varun’s wedding

As Rajni leaves, everyone prepares for the wedding ceremony. Bharti and Varun officially get married with full energy as everyone cheers them on. Prerna is seen overlooking the marriage as she gets emotional. Rahi offers her a handkerchief, and the two smile at one another. Prerna also says that Rahi should not worry about anything anymore. She reassures her, saying that nothing is going on between her and Prem.

Anupama finds out about Ishani’s arrest

The police arrive at the scene and inform Anupama that her granddaughter has been arrested and is in lockup at the police station. They also inform her that she should immediately head there to help her out. On the way, she also finds out that Jaspreet is also at the police station, and has been trying to help Ishani get out of the matter. She ends up finding out that Ishani has been arrested on charges of prostitution.

The promoshows that Ishani and Jaspreet arrive back at the chawl; however, all of the residents start calling them out and insulting them.
