Ankita Lokhande, Hina Khan to Mouni Roy; actresses who moved away from television

Many female actors who started out as Hindi television actors, slowly and steadily made a swift transition to Bollywood, Punjabi film industry or either the web space. There are many names, who've climbed the ladder in this entertainment industry and bid adieu to the small screen. Let's take a look:

Mouni Roy started her career with Ekta Kapoor's daily soap Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, and went on to do her supernatural show, Naagin. She was also seen in the mythological show, Devon Ke Dev...Mahadev as Devi Sati. However, she got a big break in Bollywood through the film, Gold opposite Akshay Kumar. Since then, Mouni never looked back and has made her ground in films.

Hina Khan, who is till date remembered for her role of Akshara in the hit TV show Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, keeps taking a break from television. After wrapping up the role of Komolika in Ekta Kapoor's Kasauti Zindagi Kay, she made her debut at Cannes and won applause. She is currently busy with a few web shows and movies. A few months ago she had also done a brief role in Ekta Kapoor's Naagin 5.

Asha Negi was seen as Purvi in Pavitra Rishta as the daughter of Ankita Lokhande's character, Archana. She did a few shows and then went missing from the TV screens. However, Asha bounced back and did many web shows

Sanjeeda Shaikh made her debut with the TV show, Kya Hoga Nimmo Ka and did several other daily soaps. She was seen in Amitabh Bachchan's film, Baghban. Sanjeeda has stayed away from the small screen and has many music videos to her credit. She is doing many web series now.

Sargun Mehta was loved for her character in 12/24 Karol Bagh, where she also found her life partner in Ravi Dubey. The actress made a strong mark in the television arena but tried her hands in the Punjabi film industry, and succeeded. Sargun is a Punjabi superstar and most of her films are blockbusters, wherein, Qismat remains one of her best works. Her recent song, Titliyan has shattered records and has topped the chartbusters.

Ankita Lokhande did Pavitra Rishta and is still remembered as Archana Manav Deshmukh. She was seen in Manikarnika with Kangana Ranaut. Ankita was supposed to make her debut with Farah Khan's film, and was also approached by Sanjay Leela Bhansali but things did not materialise back then.

Rytasha Rathore was seen in the show Badho Bahu, but never stayed to explore more in the television industry. She switched to doing documentaries, independent films, and series.

Meri Aashiqui Tumse Hi was Radhika Madan's first television show. She participated in dance reality show, Jhalak Dikhhla Ja 5, and then moved to doing films. Radhika did Pataakha, Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota and Angrezi Medium with the late Irrfan Khan and Kareena Kapoor. She has another film in the pipeline.
