Anju Mahendru has now decided to dive into some real cool action. The actress, who will join the cast of 'Mariam Khan – Reporting Live' post the eight-year leap, will play a cool, bindaas
granny
in the show.
Anju says this is nothing like what she has been playing all these years. “I jumped with joy when this role was narrated to me, as it’s a far cry from the quintessential beejis being shown on television so far. She is flamboyant, a firebrand who takes charge of situations like a pro. She is not one of the demure or the sulking ones. I am really excited as I have not played a character like this before.”
She also adds that the eccentricity of her role will be worth the watch. “This character gives me immense scope to perform and surprise the viewers. I am thoroughly enjoying depicting the quirkiness, peculiar traits and mouthing dialogues in
Punjabi
.”
Interestingly, the actress will also ride bikes in the show. She tells us, “I have never ever attempted anything like this before, so I was really nervous. While shooting the bike sequence, I followed the instructions carefully on the set in terms of how to handle the machine and other details as in how to manage the speed and other minute operational aspects to go with the pace of the moving camera. My main aim was to try out something different and make it look effortless on screen.”
Anju is all the more excited as it will be her reunion with actor Mahima Makwana, who will play Mariam post the eight-year leap, with whom she shared screen space in '
Chakravyuh
'. “It is fun to reunite with actors with whom you share amazing rapport. Our banter on the show will entertain the viewers,” she says.
