Amrita Prakash was born in Jaipur and her maternal grandparents still stay in the city. But while she used to spend her vacations here earlier, she hasn't been able to visit much lately. “Last week's visit to Jaipur happened after two years, I think. I still come here sometimes for work, but I don't get to come for a personal visit. I want to change that. But this time when I was here, I was having golgappas, which is my favourite thing to do in Jaipur, when I got a call for Akbar Birbal," she explained.READ: Luv Khatri and Amrita Prakash tie the knot in Lucknow Amrita is part of a special episode of the show, and was excited about doing comedy.
“I've done lighthearted shows before, but never an out and out comedy. So I was very excited. The actors on the set, who are seasoned comedians, are extremely talented. Just getting to work with them was a great experience," she said. One of Amrita's most memorable TV roles was as an anchor for a kids show when she was just 12. She said, “It was a huge deal to anchor a show by myself at that age. It was just me and the camera and I had to keep it going. At that time there was no teleprompters either. We were kinda given scripts on the spot and we had to mug it up. As a 12 or 13-year-old it was a lot of work and it was overwhelming. It was really , really tough but it helped me. Because I could mug up lines I never worried about exams, because I could mug up chapters just as easily."
For a lot of child actors, especially in Hollywood, the transition from child actor to actor isn't very smooth, but Amrita likes the fact that she's grown up in the public eye. “Everyone has seen me grow up as a person and as an actor. And for me also, the graph is right there to see. I love that I have that because I know my strengths and weaknesses," she said. So what keeps her grounded? “It's the conditioning and the family . My professional and personal lives are two completely different areas. None of my closest friends are from this line of work. That gives me a broader perspective and I've consciously made that choice. My priorities are also sorted. In Hollywood, the magnitude is a lot bigger. The kind of adulation, the kind of fame and money , is so much bigger. So I think you lose direction at one point," she explained.
The actress had been away from films for a while, doing daily soaps instead, but at the moment she has something happening on the film front. “Once you take on something like a daily soap, there really isn't any time to sleep, forget working on multiple projects. I was also away from acting for a year or so, so I've just gotten back into the scene, kick-starting a few things. At the moment, there's no daily soap. There's something happening on the film front but it's too early to talk about that," she said.
