Amit Tandon’s marriage to Ruby, a dermatologist, hit a rough patch in 2017 when the couple decided to separate. But they have come a long way since then, and recently even renewed their wedding vows after 16 years of marriage.
Amit shares, “On September 25, we had a mehendi function and the following day, we renewed our vows. We did a shorter version where we exchanged rings and had a varmala ceremony.
The irony is that we had both lost our old rings and this was the perfect way to start all over again.”

‘The difficult phase brought us closer’In 2018, Ruby spent 10 months in a jail in Dubai for allegedly threatening some government officials. Though the couple had separated in 2017, this tough period brought them closer. Amit says, “Despite so many things happening in our lives, we are still together and that’s a big deal. Every couple has their share of ups and downs. We made mistakes in our marriage and due to a communication gap, we reached a point where we wanted to separate. But when we got together again, we worked on the issues that we had. Now, we are in love again and renewing our vows feels like we are restarting our marriage.”
He added, "One vow that I will stick to in life is to be honest in our relationship. It is the key element that keeps a couple together, no matter what."
Amit said, "Our daughter Jiyana was just seven years old when we were planning to get separated. Now she is 13, and was ecstatic to see her parents getting married again."
