How is this show Bhagya Lakshmi different from other family dramas?
I believe the show brings forth a unique thought which is often unspoken about. In India especially, a lot of people have a strong faith in the power of bhagya (destiny) and believe that good karma is the way to a good bhagya. Hence, there was a need to introduce the story of a girl whose thoughts and way of living resonates with many like-minded people across the nation. While the show will have its own dramatic touch to it, we believe that it will also positively connect with a lot of people and inspire them to do Nek kaam.

Any specific preparations you have done for the role?
I learned how to speak Punjabi for the show. In fact, my team also helped me get a grip over the language at regular intervals, they would me out with the right pronunciation of the words. I also got a chance to learn and understand more about Sikhism. it was honestly a great experience.

Do you think being creative helps? I think it is important for everyone to be creative in life as it helps you learn new things. For me learning is important, and I learned a lot from theatre, it has played a vital role in my life.

I am portraying the role of Lakshmi, a sweet, small-town girl from Punjab who finds herself in the big city of Mumbai after her parent's demise. She is a true believer in God’s plans and the power of destiny, she is a kind soul who invests in good karma and puts everyone’s needs above and ahead of her own.

What convinced you to essay Lakshmi’s role? Do you relate to your character in real life?
While we have seen various female characters on television, I am yet to come across a character like Lakshmi who so strongly believes in the power of good karma. I feel it was the karma connect that brought me closer to Lakshmi because just like her, I believe that your Bhagya determines the good and bad for you. Her nature and way of living also slightly resembles mine which is why it was an effortless task stepping into this character. While there are a lot more similarities than I could delve into, I believe viewers would get to see the character connect the moment they watch the show.

How was the response of your family in earlier years of your career?
My parents always wanted me to land up in this industry and honestly, they have been happier than me. They have seen me work hard to achieve what I have today and always supported me to do better.

How has the experience been of shooting during the COVID-19 pandemic? What kind of precautions have you been taking while shooting on set?
Honestly, it is still quite a challenging experience shooting in the current scenario considering the pandemic is not over yet. Having said that, we are shooting with all the safety measures. The production has kept everyone’s safety in mind and ensures all the precautions are taken during the shoot. On a personal level too, we understand the sensitivity of the situation and take proper care of ourselves along with following the guidelines given by the government. It is a very different experience for all of us but as the saying goes, 'The show must go on and even I believe in the same.’
