74th Independence Day: Sports to cultural events TV actors on their school memories

Independence Day, which is traditionally marked with pomp and gaiety, will be a subdued affair this year owing to the health scare created by the Covid-19 pandemic. This year there shall be no school celebrations with the participation of students. There will be no sports, parade and cultural events. Everyone of us has our school memories on celebrating this special day .TV stars shares their school memories of Independence Day.
Making my own national flag
"During my childhood days, I remember of making the national flag by using paper and colours. I used to then put it on my cycle and go to school with my friends. I used to get up early that day because of the excitement. After the flag-hoisting, it used to be cricket time for us , as we used to play till evening.I really miss those beautiful days," said Lajwanti actor Lakshay Khurana.

Loved playing Bhagat Singh
Actor Rumi Khan known for shows like Suryaputra Karn and Ishq Ka Rang Safed reveals, "I remember we used to start making flags , two to three days prior to Independence Day and put them all around the school . We also used to sketch the pictures of freedom fighters. I was and still greatly inspired by Bhagat Singh so I always played him and I used to direct the play for our school on Independence Day".
Sports competition on Independence Day
'Naagin: Bhagya Ka Zehreela Khel' actor Manan Chaturvedi adds, As a child I remember I used to enthusiastically participate in the Independence day celebrations. We used to decorate the flag- hoisting ground with flags and balloons. We used to have a sports competition. I made it a point to be part of the competition. There used to be many cultural events too. I miss my school days even now."
Learnt patriotic songs
Actor Sahil Phull who featured in TV shows such as Uttaran and Piya Rangrezz says, "During school days we used to learn patriotic songs and used to sing after flag hoisting. There used to be many cultural events and appreciation certificates used to be distributed. I remember being given such certificate for my acting for being part of a play, I really miss those days."
