The wait is over and though its summer time in the country, 'winter is coming' for all the
Game of Thrones (GoT) fans out there. The fifth season of the hugely popular series will soon be on air and the audience will be glued to their TV sets to catch some action and mind games.
For those who don't have TV sets, well, they know how to get access to the game. So while you start pulling out your GoT merchandise to add more spice to the viewing, here's what you can expect in the latest season. Send out the ravens.
The seven kingdoms are ready to reprise some treachery, fights, sex and, of course, deaths!READ: 'Game of Thrones' piracy soars on internetFocus The focus will as usual be on the central characters -Tyrion, Jaime and Cersei Lannister, Margaery Tyrell, Daenerys Targaryen, Jon Snow, Arya and Sansa Stark. The last season ended with Bran Stark reaching a Heart Tree but he will probably be sitting out of season five. It will be interesting to see what lies in store for Arya in Braavos and more interesting would be to find out how the new entrant in game, Sansa, uses her knowledge to manipulate people. Tyrion will, in all probability, head to Meereen to meet Daenerys and Jaime to Dorne to pacify things a bit with the Martells. And then there is Jon Snow who will sweep the female viewers off their feet with his looks even if he doesn't have anything important to do.
Wedding and DeathsWhere there is a wedding, there are deaths, and blood (lots of it)! This is one line that has been synonymous with GoT. The Red Wedding wiped out most of the Starks (including Robb and Lady Catelyn) and the next wedding killed Joffrey (it was a relief though). Even if there are no weddings, the one thing that adds most curiosity to the series is deaths of the loved characters. Ned Stark died and so did his son Robb. And just when we thought that Oberyn will deliver justice, The Mountain crushed his eyes into his head (what a horrible way to die). Moreover, George RR Martin's original story has been turned around a bit for the TV adaptation by creators David Benioff and DB Weiss, which means those who have read the books too are in for some surprises. We don't know who is on the creators' hit-list but it surely will be someone the GoT realm will grow to like by the end of the season.
Click here to know more about your favourite show, Game Of ThronesTraitors and ManipulatorsGoT is all about politics and dirty games. That's a good premise for all the treachery and manipulation that is a part of the series. The big players, Varys and Littlefinger have been away from action and while Varys might stay that way because of his association with Tyrion, Lord Petyr Baelish or Littlefinger will be looking to stir things up in The Vale of Arryn with Sansa. The rivalry between Cersei and Margaery might also see a lot of manipulation. Stannis Baratheon saved the Brothers of the Night Watch, including Jon Snow, from the Wildlings' attack in the last season; something much unlike him. So there is a fair chance that he has a hidden agenda and will be looking to use this act of saving to gain leverage and manipulate the Brothers into doing something for him.
New Characters According to reports, there will be as many as nine new entrants in the season. Prince Oberyn Martell might have lost his life to overconfidence and gloating but his family will be hell bent on revenge. Expect many new Martells including Oberyn's elder brother Doran, Doran's son Trystane and Oberyn's illegitimate daughters famously known as the Sand Snakes (Nymeria, Tyene and Obara Sand). The other new entrants include Myrcella Baratheon (Jaime and Cersei Lannister's daughter), Areo Hotah (Captain of Doran Martell's palace guard), the slaver Yezzan and the religious High Sparrow (played by Jonathan Pryce).
