Wendy Williams, the iconic talk show host known for her larger-than-life personality, is facing a deepening health crisis. According to court documents obtained by PEOPLE, her court-appointed guardian, Sabrina E. Morrissey, has revealed that Williams’ battle with early-onset dementia has significantly advanced. She is now described as “cognitively impaired, permanently disabled, and legally incapacitated.”

The 59-year-old former host of The Wendy Williams Show has been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia (FTD), a progressive neurological disease with no known cure. The diagnosis has profoundly impacted her ability to manage her personal and professional affairs, leading to the appointment of Morrissey as her legal guardian.
“FTD is a progressive disease, meaning that there is no cure, and the symptoms only get worse over time,” the legal filing states.
This devastating health update comes amid a contentious legal dispute involving A&E Television Networks, Lifetime Entertainment, and other media companies behind Where Is Wendy Williams?, a recent docuseries exploring her guardianship, health, and life after her talk show ended.
The court filings allege that these companies “knowingly exploited” Williams during a time when she was “highly vulnerable” and “clearly incapable of consenting to being filmed.” According to Morrissey, the series was produced and released without a valid contract or the guardian’s consent, violating Williams’ privacy and dignity.

“This case arises from the brutally calculated, deliberate actions of powerful and cravenly opportunistic media companies,” the document claims, calling their actions exploitative and harmful to Williams’ well-being.
As part of the ongoing lawsuit, Morrissey has requested the court to approve “narrowly applied redactions” to certain sections of the legal proceedings. These redactions are intended to shield sensitive information regarding Williams’ health, family relationships, and finances. The move seeks to preserve Williams’ “privacy and dignity” during this challenging time.
Wendy Williams was a trailblazer in daytime television, captivating millions with her candid and often controversial commentary. However, her health struggles have cast a shadow over her once-vibrant career, leaving fans heartbroken and concerned.
The legal and health battles surrounding her life are a stark reminder of the complexities and vulnerabilities of public figures navigating personal crises under the spotlight.
As Wendy Williams continues to face these challenges, her supporters and loved ones hope for measures that ensure her dignity, well-being, and legacy are preserved.
