Irish-Canadian historical drama television series 'Vikings' has been renewed for season five.

Irish-Canadian historical drama television series 'Vikings' has been renewed for season five.
The History network announced that the fifth season will debut in 2017, and will have 20 episodes, reported Entertainment Weekly.
Actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers will join the series. He is expected to play a king from a country being invaded.
Meyers previously worked with 'Vikings' showrunner Michael Hirst on 'The Tudors'.
