Another Bachelor romance is over. Grant Ellis and Juliana Pasquarosa, who stole hearts as The Bachelor Season 29's love couple, have ended their engagement less than three months after the episode featuring their real-time finale had aired.
The news was broken by both Ellis, 31, and Pasquarosa, 28, in emotive Instagram Stories on Friday, June 13, which announced that even though their relationship was real, it wasn't destined to last.
"This is one of the tougher things I've ever had to put in writing, but I want to be truthful," Ellis posted. "Juliana and I have decided to break up."
The ex-Bachelor continued that the couple truly tried to make the relationship work after the cameras ceased filming.
We both gave this our best and put a lot of love into each other, but after a lot of intense conversations, we've come to the realization that we're just not right for each other long term," he said. "What we had meant something. The bond we built on the show was genuine, and so was the commitment we put into keeping it going once the cameras were turned off.
In spite of the breakup, Ellis pointed out that their separation is peaceful:
"There's no negativity here. No resentment. Just two people who care about each other and want the best for one another moving forward."
Pasquarosa shared a similar sentiment in her own update, reminiscing about the loveliness and development of their journey together.
"It's a present to have someone who observes the world in a manner that is in harmony with you, and one who encourages you to expand. I've been blessed to be able to experience that with Grant," she wrote.
She followed with an adult perspective on their choice:
"Marriage is a commitment, and it's one that we both still feel very strongly about. After much honest talk and soul-searching, we've made the decision that this chapter of our lives is best served keeping us on different paths."
The relationship between the couple had been a season highlight, with viewers admiring their vulnerability, strong emotional connection, and real affection. Their breakup, as sad as it is, has been greeted with overtures of encouragement from the Bachelor Nation community, who loved how they spoke the truth and remained gracious.
As one chapter closes, though, Ellis and Pasquarosa go forward with respect for each other and an open heart—testament that in letting go, love can still exist.
