Being part of Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heistoffered Terrence Howard the chance to revisit the past in more ways than one. During a press visit to the set of the 1970s-set Peacock drama in May, Howard reflected on the experience of not only working on the show but also reuniting with his former Empire co-star, Taraji P. Henson.
Howard, 55, and Henson, 53, famously portrayed Lucious and Cookie Lyon on Fox’s Empire from 2015 to 2020.
Their shared credits also include Hustle & Flow, Four Brothers and Term Life. Speaking about collaborating with Henson again, Howard expressed his excitement, noting, "It was great because we don't have that much interaction." He continued, "Just knowing the synchronicities associated with us—her name being TPH, mine being TDH—and our start with [director] John Singleton, we've been connected to so many projects that have this celestial appeal."
He added, "I think we must've owed each other something from a previous lifetime." In their latest project for Peacock, which is based on the real-life armed robbery that took place during Muhammad Ali's 1970 comeback match, Howard portrays Richard "Cadillac Richie" Wheeler.
Discussing his character, Howard shared, "The greatest part is Lao Tzu, a Chinese philosopher, said no one does a single thing for a single motive. You might think Caddie's actions are driven by self-motivated greed or ego, but when you discover his true motivations, you begin to understand him, and each person will be able to relate to him in some way."
