Shekhar Kapur is all set to direct a straight-to-series drama follow-up to the classic Hollywood horror film, The Omen. The sequel series is named after the character of the mysterious child from the film, Damien.

Shekhar Kapur is all set to direct a straight-to-series drama follow-up to the classic Hollywood horror film, The Omen. The sequel series is named after the character of the mysterious child from the film, Damien.
While there have been numerous sequels to the film, this is the first time that a TV series on the follow up to the film is being planned.
The series that will be aired on Lifetime, will feature Bradley James in the title role.
The TV adaptation of the 20th Century Fox film, Damien will be produced by Fox TV Studios and will have a six-episode run tracing the life of an adult Damien Thorn. The sly child has now grown up to be a mysterious man, seemingly unaware of the satanic influences that surround him. But his past continues to haunt him, forcing him to accept his destiny as the Antichrist - the most feared man throughout the ages.

The TV series is written and produced by Glenn Mazzara under his banner, 44 Strong Productions. Damien will mark Shekhar Kapur's directorial debut in the Television space and the director is apparently excited about it. Expressing his enthusiasm over the new project, he posted a tweet on the micro-blogging site, Twitter. His tweet read, "Remember the classic film 'Omen'? We're doing the sequel 'Damien'. Very very exciting script"
The series is slated to premiere in 2015.
